5 popular AI fields in 2021

Artificial Intelligence is one of the most popular fields in 2021. The global artificial intelligence market is expected to be worth almost $60bn by 2025.

️ There are 5 main areas of artificial intelligence:

Speech technology, in particular text-to-speech.
Text-to-speech technology converts text into a speech signal, synthesising speech according to pronunciation norms. The task is complicated because we do not speak as we write. In addition to clarity, the synthesised speech must be recognisable, natural, expressive and emotional. The technology is already being used in portable devices for visually and speech impaired people, public address and navigation systems and foreign language learning programmes.

Computer vision.
It is the extraction of information from images and video streams. It allows finding, tracking, classifying and identifying objects. For example, such technology can be used in enterprise surveillance and vehicle control systems to help avoid accidents or in medical image analysis systems to help in diagnosis.

????Biometrics.
The essence of the technology is that AI recognises a person based on their unique characteristics such as DNA, fingerprints, iris, voice, handwriting and even walking! Many of us deal with biometrics every day when unlocking a phone or paying remotely with a fingerprint.

NLP (Natural Language Processing).
With NLP, artificial intelligence can 'communicate' with humans: it uses special learning algorithms to recognise text and human speech, and more importantly to understand the meaning. Modern NLP can detect emotions, recognize sarcasm, generate comments on social media, detect spam and much more! A classic example of NLP is Apple's Siri voice assistant.

Predictive analytics.
The technology 'predicts' future events and helps humans make rational decisions based on the data provided. AI receives and analyses data over a period of time. Based on this data, it builds a model that identifies major trends. The AI checks against this model and concludes possible future events. This technology helps people in areas such as insurance, medicine or trading.
